The healthcare industry is a major employer in the region. Geisinger Health System employs 9,500 people in Montour County alone. Regionally, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Berwick Hospital, and Evangelical Community Hospital provide quality services and employment opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2015 more than 587,000 Pennsylvanians worked in a healthcare related field.
